"Don't Drag Us Into This Nonsense" Oscar Sudi Sends Cherargei Late Night Warning Over This Move
By Malticks - May 06, 2026
In a late-night social media post, Sudi claimed that Cherargei and The Standard were acting together behind the scenes.
He warned the senator against involving others in what he termed “nonsense,” alleging there was clear collusion aimed at stirring political controversy.
The remarks followed a front-page story published by The Standard titled “Going after Uhuru,” which alleged that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is facing political intimidation and harassment under the administration of President William Ruto.
The report linked Cherargei to a proposed bill seeking to review privileges enjoyed by retired presidents, particularly those who remain politically active after leaving office.
According to the publication, the proposed changes have sparked concerns over how former leaders are treated in Kenya’s political environment.
Sudi’s reaction has exposed growing divisions within the ruling coalition, where leaders appear split over the debate surrounding former presidents and their continued participation in politics.
While some lawmakers support a review of retirement benefits, others argue that the ongoing public attacks against Uhuru are unnecessary and could deepen political tensions.
The newspaper article also raised concerns about constitutional and legal implications regarding the treatment of retired heads of state, with critics warning that such actions could set a troubling precedent.
Cherargei had not publicly responded to Sudi’s accusations by the time of reporting. Political observers expect the debate to intensify as discussions continue over the role of former presidents and the limits of political engagement after leaving office.
