A police officer accidentally shot and injured himself after he discharged his weapon in Kibii, Juja, Kiambu County.

It is reported that the officer slipped and fell in a muddy area while being confronted by an angry mob trying to chase him away in the area.

According to police reports, the officer was accompanied by a colleague and had gone to arrest a wanted drug dealer when they were confronted by the mob.

As he attempted to draw his pistol, he lost his balance and fell on the slippery mud, causing the weapon to discharge a single bullet that struck him in the left leg.

He was transported to the hospital in stable condition, while the wanted suspect managed to escape.

It is believed that the angry mob who cornered the officers were trying to cause a distraction to buy time for the drug dealer to escape and avoid arrest.
