Oscar Sudi has publicly criticized Kiprotich Arap Cherargei, accusing him of working closely with The Standard Group to fuel what he described as unnecessary political attacks.

In a late-night social media post, Sudi claimed that Cherargei and The Standard were acting together behind the scenes.

He warned the senator against involving others in what he termed “nonsense,” alleging there was clear collusion aimed at stirring political controversy.

The remarks followed a front-page story published by The Standard titled “Going after Uhuru,” which alleged that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is facing political intimidation and harassment under the administration of President William Ruto.

The report linked Cherargei to a proposed bill seeking to review privileges enjoyed by retired presidents, particularly those who remain politically active after leaving office.

According to the publication, the proposed changes have sparked concerns over how former leaders are treated in Kenya’s political environment.

Sudi’s reaction has exposed growing divisions within the ruling coalition, where leaders appear split over the debate surrounding former presidents and their continued participation in politics.

While some lawmakers support a review of retirement benefits, others argue that the ongoing public attacks against Uhuru are unnecessary and could deepen political tensions.

The newspaper article also raised concerns about constitutional and legal implications regarding the treatment of retired heads of state, with critics warning that such actions could set a troubling precedent.

Cherargei had not publicly responded to Sudi’s accusations by the time of reporting. Political observers expect the debate to intensify as discussions continue over the role of former presidents and the limits of political engagement after leaving office.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that the late Nderitu Gachagua left behind a will so sophisticated that it is now studied at the Kenya School of Law as a model of advanced estate planning.

Speaking in a recent address, Rigathi described his elder brother’s will as one of the most comprehensive ever drafted in Kenya, highlighting its precision, foresight, and legal depth.

Nderitu Gachagua, who served as the first Governor of Nyeri County, passed away in 2017 while undergoing treatment in London.

His death marked the end of a distinguished political career—but according to his family, it also unveiled a remarkable personal legacy in legal planning.

Rigathi noted that the will went beyond the ordinary distribution of wealth, incorporating structured provisions that ensured clarity, minimized disputes, and safeguarded the interests of beneficiaries.

The document has since gained recognition within legal circles, with students and practitioners reportedly analyzing it as a benchmark for drafting complex wills.

Its inclusion in studies at the Kenya School of Law underscores its significance in shaping best practices in succession planning.

Legal experts often emphasize that well-drafted wills can prevent family conflicts and lengthy court battles.

Nderitu’s will appears to exemplify this principle, offering a practical example of how meticulous legal preparation can preserve both wealth and harmony.

Rigathi Gachagua’s remarks also carried a personal tone, portraying his late brother not only as a leader but as a meticulous planner who understood the importance of order—even in death.

He suggested that the will reflects Nderitu’s disciplined approach to life and leadership, traits that defined his tenure in public service.

The revelation has sparked renewed public interest in estate planning in Kenya, with many viewing the late governor’s will as a wake-up call on the importance of proper legal documentation.
